Description of owls:
Barn owls are nocturnal and they have a heart shaped face.
Snowy owls are not nocturnal, they are camouflaged in the colour of snow. They live in certain parts of America. They also live in Canada.
All owls can almost turn their head all the way round. All owls cannot move their eyes. They all roost at some point of the year.
Most owls are nocturnal but some are not nocturnal.
There are many different types of owl such as the Barn owl, Little owl, Long-eared owl, Short-eared owl and the Tawny owl. In the wild, owls can live for 2 or 3 years but in captivity the can live until they are 20. Owls like to nest in tree holes and farm buildings. They hunt in fields, hedgerows and heaths. Owls eat mice, voles, frogs and insects. Owls can swoop silently through the sky because their bones are very light. A group of owls is called a parliament. Owls can only see things far away as they are long-sighted.
