Thank you to all parents and children for your engagement with and acceptance of our new hand-washing regime. Children are being very sensible by and large and parents have been supportive also.

I am aware that some children’s skin has been irritated by the frequent washing and they have begun to bring in a small tube of hand lotion or moisturiser to help with this. This is perfectly fine as long as they apply it themselves and are sensible with it. We can’t allow children not to wash their hands as it is an important public health measure.

We are given daily updates from Bury LA and from the DfE and the current advice we are given is that schools will remain open unless there is a particular need for individual schools to close because of local circumstances.
