June 2021 – Move Up Day Cancelled
Back to article list

29th June 2021

As you may know, we have one class bubble currently at home isolating due to contact with a positive Covid-19 case. The number of infections is rising rapidly across the country and especially in younger age groups in Greater Manchester.

Reluctantly, I have decided that it is too risky to hold Move Up Day tomorrow as it would mean children being exposed to two sets of teaching staff and staff being exposed to two sets of children. This would double the impact if we had a further positive case. This is disappointing, but, I believe, a necessary precaution to reduce the likelyhood of the end of the school year being disrupted by bubble closures.

All of the transition activities which teachers have planned will take place in the first week of September (week beginning Monday 6th September) so it’s a postponement rather than a cancellation.

This decision is in line with other transition work across schools – high schools are not doing whole class transition days and nursery children cannot visit their new Reception class until September.

Although this is disappointing for children and for teachers, all of whom look forward to being in their new classes for a day at this time of year, I am sure you will support us in this decision.

Many thanks, Mr Waddington
