In the past we have organized very successful trips for children in Years 5 & 6 to London and to Paris. We have run the trips jointly with Tottington Primary School and have visited cultural sites and other places of interest. Children, parents and staff have always given us very positive feedback about the visits.
I would very much like to continue to offer this kind of opportunity to children at Hollins Grundy however Tottington Primary have decided that they no longer wish to be involved in this joint venture. The joint nature of the trips has become very important for two reasons: firstly, the children get to meet and make friends with children from another local school, and some of these friendships last a long time. Secondly, by collaborating with another school we can take more children and get a better price for parents.
I have managed to find another school who are interested in working together on big trips, Holcombe Brook Primary, but they can’t join in this year as they have other trips planned. They would however like to plan something for next academic year, which would be a London trip.
This means that if the Paris visit in March is to go ahead we would have to organize the trip as a single school this year which has implications for the price…
For a 5 day, 4 night trip to Paris in March 2016 the price would be approx. £350 if we took 35 or more children or approx. £500 if we took fewer than 35 children.
I am firmly in favour of the benefits of this kind of trip for children but I would like to get an idea of the level of interest from parents before making firm bookings. Please contact school if you are interested in your child taking part in a trip to Paris in March 2016.
I will be available for parents to discuss the trip on Thursday 1st October and Thursday 8th October at 3.00pm in the school hall, or please don’t hesitate to contact me at school if you would like to discuss this further.
