September 2020 – 07 – Covid-19 isolation and testing
Back to article list

25th September 2020

Schools have been asked by Public Health colleagues not to advise parents to get tests for children with diarrhoea and vomiting. Whilst these can be symptoms of Covid-19 they can also overlap significantly with other conditions. To protect the capacity of the testing system children with diarrhoea and vomiting should stay off school for at least 48 hours and only return when they are free of symptoms.

We are required by Public Health to collect certain information about children who are isolating (date of onset of symptoms, date of tests etc). To help us do this accurately would all children who have been isolating please come to school through the main office on their first day back.

Children whose full class is isolating should return through their normal gate as usual.

Thank you
