Last week Bury Council confirmed with us that they will require the use of the school building as a polling station for the local elections on Thursday 7th May. Unfortunately this means that the school will be closed to children on this day, including before and after school wraparound care.
In the past the council has used the community centre as the local polling station, but I understand that this is no longer suitable. Whilst we have not been required in the past it is likely that the school will be required as a polling station for all elections going forward. This is a decision which the council is entitled to make as our school buildings are council property.
