The Claude Award was introduced to children in assembly yesterday; they should bring their Claude Award card home today. We are trialling the bronze level this term.

What is the Claude Award?

The Claude Award is an award that each child at Hollins Grundy can aim towards achieving each year. It is a chance for your child to be celebrated for their commitment to improving their own personal development. Each year the children at Hollins Grundy can earn a bronze, a silver or a gold award for their personal development within school and in the wider community.

The categories are as follows:

C is for community spirit

L is for learning a new skill

A is for being active and adventurous

U is for being understanding and respectful of others

D is for demonstrating resilience and responsibility

E is for showing commitment to environmental issues

To achieve a bronze award, the children have to show commitment by completing one activity from each of the above strands throughout the year.

To achieve a silver award, the children have to show commitment by completing a different, second activity from each of the above strands throughout the year.

To achieve a gold award, the children have to show commitment by completing a completely new, third activity from each of the above strands throughout the year.

Bronze can be achieved in the autumn term, Silver in the spring term and Gold in the summer.  We are hoping that this award will help children to show their resilience, and gain an understanding of what it means to take responsibility.

Examples of the type of activities that the children can partake in in order to achieve their award are outlined below:

-complete an act of kindness

-participate in a community litter pick

-complete the daily mile

-learn how to play a musical instrument

-spend a night away from home

-make a sandwich

We know, as parents, you will have your own amazing ideas and we can’t wait to see your child’s progress.

It will be your child’s responsibility to hand in their Claude Award card to their class teacher (?), once the evidence has been emailed to Claude@hollinsgrundy.com

Evidence can be collected in the form of photographs or a written account and emailed when all 6 activities are completed to Claude@hollinsgrundy.com

Your child’s success will be celebrated in a Smile Assembly, where they will be handed their certificate.
