Following the Prime Minister’s announcement last night our school, along with all other schools will now not open tomorrow and will remain closed until at least the start of next half-term (Monday 22nd February 2021).
Teachers will be delivering remote education to all classes which will be delivered by Microsoft Teams, and for younger children SeeSaw. For many families you will have experienced remote education previously during periods of self-isolation. The pattern will be similar to what has happened previously i.e. work posted to the class Teams page with a number of live video sessions each day to support the learning. The topics and content covered in the remote learning will follow the pattern of what would have taken place if school had been open.
Whilst I appreciate the enormous challenges of remote and home learning for parents the expectation is that all children will engage with this.
School will be open for a small number of children who are considered to be vulnerable and children whose parents qualify as key workers (the government list can be found here: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-maintaining-educational-provision/guidance-for-schools-colleges-and-local-authorities-on-maintaining-educational-provision). Children attending school in these categories will remain in their year group bubbles and will be supervised in a way which enables them to follow the remote learning being delivered by teachers.
If you consider yourself to be a key worker and your shift patterns are such that you cannot care for your children at home please complete the key worker form at the bottom of this page and return it to your child’s class teacher on the class email address along with confirmation from your employer that the details are correct.
Given the very short timescales involved and the need to plan to be able to supervise children safely I would appreciate it if parents would email their child’s class teacher using the class email address by 1.00pm today if they qualify as a key worker and if they are intending that their children attend school this week. We will ask parents to contact us on a weekly basis if their child/ren require a key worker place as experience tells us that shift patterns vary across weeks.
If children are attending school the previously used start and finish times will apply (see chart below). Additionally Owls before and after school club will not be operating whilst school is closed.
|Year Group||Start Time||Finish Time||Entrance/Exit Gate|
|Year 1||8.55am||3.30pm||Infant Gate|
|Year 2||8.45am||3.20pm||Middle Gate|
|Year 3||8.55am||3.30pm||Middle Gate|
|Year 4||8.55am||3.20pm||Bottom Gate|
|Year 5||8.45am||3.10pm||Bottom Gate|
|Year 6||9.05am||3.30pm||Bottom Gate|
We are receiving guidance from the Department for Education and from Bury LA on a daily basis at the moment. Whilst we have a clear plan going forward as described above, it is important to note that if circumstances require it we may have to change our plans at short notice.
